Hola Familia!!
Now I know a little bit what Mitch was talking about when he said "Holy Smokes" - that phrase sums up a lot of feelings that just can't be put into words!
First off, this place is amazing! I feel like I can do this whole mission thing (esp. if the first couple of days are the hardest!) After we waved goodbye the Elders swept me away and I got an Hermana (Hma) Host. She helped me find my room to drop off my stuff and then my classroom where I met my teachers and my companions - Yep! I have 2! They are both the sweetest (and not in the "sweet spirit" kind of way) and couldn't be better for me. They both are really fun and we get along really great. Hma Young is from Seattle, went to BYU, has blonde curly hair and L.O.V.E.S. being a missionary. Every part about it (like last night we were taking pics in our PJ's and she had her name tag on because she was so excited about having one!) So cute! She's very outgoing and willing to be very obedient and hard working. She's also going to my mission and leaves the same day as me. So we better become fast friends, right? I'm sure we will! Hma Rios is from So. California and also went to BYU. She's got black hair is really cute too. She's a little more laid back, but has got so much drive to be a really good missionary. She knows she's supposed to be here.
Were all getting along great and this morning we went to the exercise class they hold just for sisters together. Rise and shine for 6:00 a.m. pilates (tomorrow is kickboxing - it changes) but it was a nice rejuvenation - Lil' somethin' to get you going.
Turns out that Mitch's classroom was right next to mine. I discovered this b/c all the Elders suddenly started saying my name and saying "Elder Child's sister!" He definitely told them I'd be coming - sweet boy! (Actually I'm having a problem w/calling everyone boys, guys, and girls instead of Elders and Sisters - Whoops, need to work on that rule). Anyway, Mitch is practically a celebrity here! I couldn't count how many people came up to me and told me how sad they were that he had to leave. I met Elder Higginson who is cool and his whole district is Elders, who are kinda crazy and fun (typical 19 y'o) This is how much they love him - they wanted me to bring a pic to their class so they could make a shrine of him. They asked me if I did push-ups every night like him - Hmmmm.
Teachers are great - Sister Bauserman is in the Elementary Ed. program with Aly Archer and Brother Lewis was friends with Greg Jackson @ BYU (ask Sarah). Also, Brittany Lichfield, from Weber, is in my District/ classroom. So crazy! There's 5 Sisters and 4 Elders in my district - pretty unusual. Actually yesterday was a record for numbers at the MTC - over 600 missionaries entered and 130 of those were "Girls" Hooray!
Anyway, that's all I pretty much know of the MTC by now...So just FYI - I'm happy and healthy and already feeling the Spirit so strong. We had a teaching workshop and President's welcome, both which got me more pumped for missionary work -- and told me there's so much I need to learn still!
I love you all so much and can't tell you how much your support and love mean to me...you all are the best and the Gospel is the best! I can't think of a better thing I could be doing with my life!!
Love, You! Kelli
