WO-HO family! good email day if I do say so myself!! :) MUCHAS GRACIAS!! I feel closer to home already with just a little update from you all! It's good to know that you're all living, loving, laughing, and learning... ah, so sweet. Also, I love that you're still kickin trash in triathalons and you have no idea how proud I am that my family had a sushi night. It all began eating Thai food for my birthday 2 years ago...
As far as this week goes...I can't believe that it's been a week already since the last time that I wrote you. Time is beginning to fly by like it never has before. I think a big part of that is being the busiest than I've ever been as well. I'm such a proud little mother. Honestly, it's times like these when I realize that the Lord is just so gentle with us. He just sees how sensitive I am, and just knows me so well, that he says, here ya go Kel, I know that you're new to this whole mission thing, and training thing, and I have someone that's perfect for ya. He wants me to grow, but He doesn't want it to be too painful. That's where Hermana Bustinza comes in. She's just this adorable little Peruvian who couldn't have been pumped with more spiritual juice before coming here. She truly is incredible. She has all of the energy and capabilities in the world, and she learns more from me, than I do from her in this cambio, it will be a mircacle. profile: she is 26, convert of 6 years, has 6 siblings (4 of them are members, parents are not members), is a hairstylist and student (studying to be a farmacist), loves to cook, read, and share the gospel. Did I mention that the first day she said, okay, you just tell me what I need to do, and I'll do it, I'll do anything you tell me. Haha...I haven't taken advantage of that yet :) She invited someone to be baptized her first day, and she is just very kind and loving to everyone, asking to serve and help and testify. It's incredible.
Starting this cambio, we've implemented a new "training" program...that lasts 2 cambios (12 weeks). It's an additional hour of companionship study in the morning, and it's goal is to have the greenie be able to train after 12 weeks. It's really great. Every week there's something new that we apply (i.e. switching off in contacts, and have the newbie take the initiative in inviting people to be baptized.) They've given us portable DVD players to have in our homes and we get to watch the "District" - real life examples of missionaries applying what they've learned, to help us learn how to do it.
I'm having a hard time attaching photos, but if I get them sent, you'll see that Hna. Bustinza cooked us a Peruvian dish with rice and fried chicken, and has taught me how to say hello in Cetchwa. (I'm teaching her English, but "Hello" and "cute" have taken us all week to learn). (you'll also note in the pics that she looks like a very serious, fun-sucker, but for some reason these latinos think its more natural to not smile in pics - - I think they're trying to be models or something).
Other highlights of the week: Jose Luis and Petronila got confirmed this week! Thanks to a lot of your prayers! Thank you! We're just gonna keep on truckin with the rest of our investigators, and hopefully find some new ones this week that are willing and ready to accept our message.
This mission thing is really great. I've never fallen to sleep so quickly, I have never spent a whole day speaking Spanish until now, I've never talked to so many strangers, nor have I ever had so much time to build my testimony and build my faith in what Heavenly Father counsels me to do. It's really something.
I love you all so much! Keep sendin prayers my way- - - they help so much!!
I hope all is going well at home!! I love you all!
xoxoxoxoxo, hna child
