Oh HI there family!! First off: HAPPY FATHER'S DAY POPS!! I'm glad you got my little shout out...hopefully my letter has gotten to you too. You really are the greatest!
Mitch- let's just say that it's really fun to be able to read what your experiences are, because I think I understand your ups and downs a little bit better, since I'm experiencing some of the same. (example: getting people to church! Why is it that the devil just is working overtime Sunday morning so that people don't feel like going to church?? It's interesting how he works in forms of excuses a lot of the time. Like he'll make it seem like the lamest excuse is the most valid and reasonable that a person could come up with. Earthquakes, rain, father's day, sadness, not feeling like it, too early...etc. I'm pretty sure I'm very guilty of falling into this same trap, of finding excuses for not following through with all of my commitments. The words of a wise mother keep coming back to me: "Satan is real Kelli" Thank you Patti)
As for this week, it was filled with quite a few just really great moments! Honestly, me and Hna. Sieverts are having a really good time trying to just work really hard, and to work by the spirit, and to work through the RAIN! Holy smokes, we had more than a few good rains this week...however good ol' black snowman large marshmellow feathery coat is doing it's job and keeeping me nice and warm and dry. Umbrellas get useless for the most part because of the wind. And my gortex boots? bring on the brown rivers that are literally covering the streets, they ain't got notin' on me.
Nicko didn't end up getting baptized again. He had this entire week off school, but spent all of it in bed with his laptop on facebook. It was a low point when we were talking to him through his door and practically begging him to come out and share with us. Then, later, when his mom came home and we got him to come out, he said he didn't want to get baptized right now, and when we asked why he just said he didn't want to. I just couldn't understand why this 13 year old boy doesn't want to spend time with 2 sister missionaries..then I remembered that I have plenty of brothers that have taught me more than enough times what is going through his head. Talk about a flashback to any visit from anyone and Curtis not giving them the time of day. Strange how the Lord will use ANY experience you've had in life to help you do His work. Needless to say we're going to have to stick with the Family Home Evenings and lot's of good treats to keep him excited about praying and coming to church until he feels ready to take this step.
As for Family Vergara...Roberto got his interview this week to be baptized, passed it with flying colors. Said his favorite thing about church is that you play and learn at the same time, that it's gorgeous on the outside and on the inside, and that he feels really good whenever he's there. He currently has the Book of Mormon as his cell phone backdrop and his summary of 3 Nephi 11 consists of talking about Christ giving the power to baptize to special men. GAH! He's incredible. Very mature and smart. His mother still doesn't seem too convinced about the whole thing, and doesn't really want him to get baptized - fearing that it's because of all the peer pressure)
Louis also got interviewed this week, and is willing to be baptized this week if he receives an answer as to whether or not Joseph Smith was a prophet. He was given the homework to watch a specific general conference talk, give up his coffee for a week and pray, from the Elder, and we'll see how that all goes. Please pray a lot for them (I'm not trying to compete for prayer time with Mitch's investigators, just tryin to get them eternal life as a beautiful family)
I also hit my 6month mark this week. that's pretty insane. We celebrated with icecream. I feel like I'm just barely buildin up steam! It's wierd how there are opportunities and challenges each week that just make you stretch and become a little bit better. I love you all very much! I hope you enjoy LP and boating and fruit and summatimeeeeee.
